Discomfort due to inflammation is very complex. It may begin with arachidonic acid (an omega 6 fatty acid obtained from consumption of a variety of animal fats and vegetable oils, especially corn-fed beef). While a certain amount of omega 6 fats are required for good health, an imbalance of omega 6 fats relative to omega 3 fats has been shown to promote inflammation. Omega 3 fats are obtained from high quality raw nuts, seeds and fish oils.
Research shows that there are at least 2 enzyme pathways, namely COX and LOX, which can convert arachidonic acid into potent inflammatory signals. Multiple causes are involved including gene activators, dietary fats, stress oxidative free radicals, high blood sugar, environmental toxins and aging.
